Meeting the children.

For three days in a row we rode our horses for 6 - 7 hours a day. We started at 8:00 AM and ended around 3:30 - 4:30 PM (because we also took breaks). You can imagine 5 inexperienced horse back riders trekking through the steep mountains of Lesotho. We were sore and in pain quickly. Our backs and behinds were hurting. So, we liked our breaks!

On this particular break we were right outside of a village. Two children were watching, then three, then four...then a few more, and the next thing you know we were surrounded. They wanted to see us and touch us, and most of all they loved the digital camera. They do not have cameras, so they love to see their pictures. They think it is so funny!

We would take a picture and then they would RUN to see the image on the camera. The website for our trek actually mentioned how the people like for you to take pictures, and if we do we can mail them to the lodge and they will give them to the families. I will do this with my pictures as soon as I have time!

Dorian had the bright idea of asking if they would like a cookie. Soon they were lined up and we were all laughing and sharing cookies. We did not speak the same language, but we did not need to. We all understood each other somehow. This was our favorite break of the trip :)
